Inspired by the Indonesian 10 Sen banknote issued in 1964, the Ikonyo Sen Wallet transforms a nearly forgotten monetary artifact into a tactile everyday object.
Borrowing visual elements from the historical 10 Sen “Sukarelawan” note, the wallet reframes a fragment of Indonesia’s post-independence visual memory through material, texture, and function.
Constructed from raw canvas fabric, the piece embraces an intentionally imperfect surface—unfinished edges, exposed fibers, and a worn visual language reminiscent of aged archives and circulated paper currency.
The faded print becomes less about nostalgia and more about preservation: a quiet gesture toward objects history almost erased.
